News3 July 2011Uploaded a new track to Myspace. It's an unrehearsed, impromptu piano improvisation based on the traditional Scottish song 'Charlie is my darling'. The track is entitled 'Twas on a Monday morning, quite early in the year'. 2 July 2011I've been going through my cassette tape collection and replacing them with new and second-hand CDs from Amazon.co.uk and the Amazon Marketplace. During this process, I've discovered a cassette that may well be one of the few copies left in existence. It's called 'The Square Root of Minus One' and it was produced by the Paraphonic Studio of the Paraphysical Laboratory, Downton, Wiltshire, England. The Paraphysical Laboratory in Downton was founded by Benson Herbert, now deceased, who was interested in altered states of the mind. The tape is intended to, in turn, create dissociative and meditative states and then re-alert the listener. With sections that sound like a child playing the 'drums' on kitchenware, I find the 'music' strangely relaxing. Archived NewsA revised version of 'The Pass' has been uploaded to MySpace and thesixtyone.com and made available to be downloaded for no charge. The previous version had problems in the left stereo track. |
